I offer a range of music theory tuition from ABRSM Grade 5 to Royal College of Organists’ diplomas and conservatoire level. As well as face-to-face teaching, I can provide lessons online via skype, with coursework marked and returned by email.
You can read about my professional experience as a teacher and examiner here.
Royal College of Organists’ diplomas
I have helped many students successfully meet the paperwork requirements for Royal College of Organists’ diploma examinations. I offer support either face-to-face or by distance learning.
I have 35 years’ experience as a teacher at three of London’s leading music colleges and recognise the importance of personalising my teaching according to students’ individual needs.
My teaching resources include self-help handouts, containing a number of carefully graded exercises, including:
- counterpoint (baroque and renaissance)
- harmony (Bach chorale style)
- figured bass
Other music theory tuition
I can also prepare students for ABRSM Grade 5 Theory and any other levels required.
As a former ABRSM examiner, with responsibility for training and moderation, I have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the examination system and can provide the following services to prospective candidates:
- a focused and logical approach to aural tests and sight-reading at all grades and for all instruments
- a mock examination service with personalised and immediate feedback
First half-hour free and without obligation. Thereafter my teaching fees are reasonable and negotiable, in line with rates recommended by the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
Please contact me for further information and we can have a chat about your aspirations and requirements.
